ECO-MIN enhances the growth of soil microbes (”the invisible workers of the soil”) that in turn supply root systems with an abundance of nutrients, minerals, trace elements, and ultra trace elements. Smaller mineral particles are available for immediate microbial uptake through plant roots, while larger particles act as slow-release fertilizer. Over the long-term, soil fertility will increase (vs. decrease as it does with chemical fertilizers); this can provide higher yields and improve crop quality, thus reducing the need for toxic chemicals such as petroleum-based N-P-K fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.

TRANSITIONAL Growers

Transitioning to sustainable organic production is a pro-active process that demands patience, diligence, and thoughtful preparation.  ECO-MIN can be an essential ingredient in your transition process as you introduce integrated pest management, compost, mulch, compost teas and other types of non-harmful practices.  ECO-MIN is not a cure-all but a step towards a sustainable soil program.  In the first year, we recommend using ECO-MIN while reducing fertilizer by 30-50%.  Soil tests should be conducted to determine the nutrient holdings and needs of the soil.  Based on the outcome of these tests, some growers may choose to eliminate all chemical applications in the first year.  The succeeding years would see further reduction in the N-P-K fertilizer usage.  Using this ECO-MIN technique, Australian farmers have been able to dramatically reduce their N-P-K inputs with positive results.
